Thoughts on financial analyst in boutique REIT firm as an exit option? I should only take this role if I want LT career in real estate right?

What’s it like working for a university as in-house IT? Have an interview for a technical analyst role at a large DC university. Currently a Business Analyst in industry and not enjoying it. I know working for universities means certain perks (tuition discount, flexible time off). But anything else to consider?

Would moving from a front/middle office role at BX in an analyst position to a senior associate/AVP role at GS in a purely middle-office role be a step down? *middle/front at BX means tangentially revenue creation and direct involvement with portfolio companies

Started a new job a month ago at a local marketing and analytics firm as a business analyst. I feel like it’s not a culture fit, but had the revelation I hate being a business analyst. I applied to a enterprise systems analyst role at a university as a long shot and they want to have an interview. It would allow me to learn about new technology but take on more of a team lead role which I’m also unsure about. My ultimate goal is to become more technical but it seems like a way too visible role!

I'm applying/attending job interviews for financial analyst type roles in industry from Big4.

I don't really have an industry that I'm really passionate about. I'm paranoid that I'll exit and get stuck in a specific industry. Did any of you have issues moving between industries? How did you manage to be competitive or overcome that issue when changing industries?

Hey everyone. I’m currently a big 4 analyst with < 3 years of experience doing financial services roles from BSA to PM to tech analyst. I have an upcoming interview with a big bank for an associate product manager job and while I have a general idea of what the role entails, I have no idea how to prep. What do you guys recommend. Also my first interview since college so I’m very rusty

Have the opportunity to switch jobs 3 months out of school to a role that has considerably higher compensation (better base, better bonus, good growth) but in a very niche space.  It is a space I'm interested in but I'm worried that after a few years I may get stuck if I really end up not liking it. Should I stay in a more general consulting role since Im young to explore different spaces (currently analyst in ACN Strat) or just make the jump? This feels like a huge life decision for me.

I see job posts from consulting firms looking for senior analysts/associates and the requirements are calling for 1-3 years of investment banking experience.

Specific example: guidehouse has a “financial analyst - senior consultant” position available on LinkedIn calling for 1-3 years IB. This has got to be a dream requirement right? Do IB analysts making $150k+ really leave to make half? Just seems like these positions would never get filled to me

Moreso sharing my story than an earnest ask, I feel compelled to share:

I got my job via a series of lucky coincidences. I am a former art student who winded up working for the print production dept of a major media company in what was supposed to be a weeklong gig, and then ended up as a data analyst in the same org.

When I think of what I would be passionate for, I think of a creative field, like fashion, even if I was a similar, administrative role. I’m not sure there’s room to grow here.

I have a prior consulting experience of 1.5 years at a globally known pharma consulting firm (ZS Associates).
