I’ve been stuck in staff aug roles and really want to get into an actual role that does meaningful work. I have 4 years of experience in basic admin stuff what firm can I apply to that hires experienced hires with no real hard skills? I really want to find my way in consulting field.

Anyone from EY willing to offer a referral for a staff role? I’d be happy to talk about fit as well.

what is staff augmentation and is it a good role to be in?

Debate:
If you’re interviewing for a new position outside the firm and the interviewer is unavailable after your billable hours (staff augmentation project). Typically for appointments (dentist, doctor), we make up the time outside of working hours. Would you A) block off the time on your calendar as an appointment and make up the 30 min outside of normal working hours
OR B) take 30 minutes of PTO for interview

Spouse got an offer for industry accounting analyst position. 73k base located at New Jersey. Spouse have 3 year Staff Accountant experience with a CPA license. Is this 73k fair pay? Should we ask more? How much more would be appropriate? Many thanks!

Thoughts on the gaming industry? I’ve been approached by a fairly big developer for a Chief of Staff role. The industry is an exciting space, but I know little to nothing on pay, benefits, trajectory, etc. Any insight?

What are your thoughts on the chief of staff role at a startup? I want to get into tech startups but don’t have an “idea” yet and am not a “builder/engineer”. I read the JDs for this type of role and it sounds like a great role for a former management consultant/strategic advisor and a good way to get into startups and set yourself up to run your own startup some day…is my understanding correct or should I approach getting into startups a different way?

Is chief of staff role for a mid size PE firm an attractive role?

Finally I have 2 offers to get out of this place. Both new roles are a step up and pay the same in federal space. One is a very small company doing a traditional SM of PMs role, non sdlc pmo work. Other is a large company as a Program Manager, overseeing a staff of ~25 doing sdlc- some agile.

I eventually want to go big tech for an IC role. I feel like the smaller company position is more aligned with IC role. My only scare is I will be out of touch on emerging tech and practices.

I've been out of public accounting and tax accounting for 2 years. I'm getting back in but concerned I lost all my tax knowledge. I applied for a staff role but they gave me a senior role because of my experience. How can I get back to where I was?
I was thinking of finding a recent tax textbook and reading it. Is there a better way I could go about this? The book likely won't cover PPP loans and all that stuff.

What is the role "Senior Staff Engineer" equivalent to. Architect or Sr.Architect. Please advise.

I left public accounting for industry about 1.5 years ago. I was a senior in a PCS group. I'll be looking to get back into PA in a PCS group once I get licensed. Does being out of PA for 2 years mean I should look for an experienced staff role, or could I get a senior position? My industry role isn't tax related, so I would have to get back up to speed on all the tax changes in the past couple of years.

Thought on accepting an offer from a company for a position at a new company for a position below/on-level with your current position, but which has high visibility (Chief of Staff to CEO)?

I have two years of internal audit experience in a 500 company and I am relocating to a financial analyst role within the company. However, I think I still need the public accounting experience in big4 to get a long-term competency. I want to apply big 4 staff auditor after I pass the rest two CPA exams. I know I can’t get the experienced auditor position since I don’t have public accounting experience. I had my master in accounting. Will I be qualified for the entry level auditor in big4?

Got an offer for a funds staff attorney position recently at a V10. The pay is good and way better than my current firm. I really liked the team. Apprehensive because it’s a staff attorney position but my current firm treats me very badly, crazy turnover, manipulative people, and the pay is terrible, so I’m thinking of making the move. My question is, I’ve been reading about signing bonuses dropping in this crazy market, has this been happening for staff attorneys too?

What are some of your favorite interview questions to ask when interviewing paralegals/support staff? I’m sitting in on interviews next week and it’s been a while since I was the one getting to ask the questions. For context, the position is for a paralegal position doing civil litigation and family law litigation. Small firm (4 attorneys total).

What is a good base/bonus ratio? A recruiter is telling me the last person she placed was at a $50k bonus but she is asking me what base I’m looking for without any guidance on what they are willing to do for this role. I am a B4 tax staff (soon-to-be senior), and I’m seriously considering management consulting - I think it’s a better fit for my personality and hopefully pays better…so my questions are 1) are consulting firms hiring junior levels at all these days 2) what companies and positions would be my best shot? So I recently left B4 for boutique firm which is very staff aug-ish and I’m not sure I like that. However, my role in B4 was in risk assurance so anything remotely consulting is new to me.

Having said that, the grass doesn’t seem to be greener on the other side and I low-key miss my previous employer (but going back to risk audit is shocking)

Thoughts? Advice? Help?

I’m a second year staff and am trying to decide if I should stick it out one more year (to hopefully have one senior busy season under my belt) or if I should start looking for positions now? Can any EY fish provide insight on the role “Data Analyst - Tech Consulting Staff”? Is this a good fit for someone with 1.5 YOE?

Got final interview with 2 ppl from Deloitte yesterday, 1 is a manager and the other is a partner. I think I did well with the manager.For the partner, he asked 2/4 questions that I did not prepare so did not answer as well as expected. He stopped asking me after just 10 mins with those 2 questions. Given that I have some strengths from my resume ( high gpa, passed cpa) and fluent communication,friendly manner. Any hope? Position: Audit staff.

What is a reasonable salary expectation for a Chief of Staff role for a Series B start-up which has been operating for >10 years? Need to set my expectations prior to diving in.

With so many companies hiring staff in remote locations, how does that impact a recruits ability to negotiate salary that reflect cost to live where they live? Let’s say the recruit lives in a big city with a higher average salary than the company in a smaller more rural area. Is the company obliged to offer a rate higher than they would for a local employer? And if they don’t take higher cost to live in negotiations, why would someone take they offer?
