“I’m delighted to announce I’ve just been made Partner at [firm X], thank you to a bunch of people for helping make this happen. I’m energised for the next adventure ... and yes, we are making layoffs but I’m tone deaf so who the F cares.”

Fed up of reading these constantly in my LinkedIn feed. Guess reading the room isn’t really a thing.

Is there an emerging consensus on the impact of covid on consulting in terms of YoY revenue growth? Layoffs at consulting firms?

What would you do? I was laid off and now have two directions:
1) Back to old job in industry with security and knowing what I’m getting/how to do the job well/job security but $15k reduction in salary plus nominal API still working 60+ hrs a week...
2) Consulting again at big 4 but don’t know team and threat of unpredictability/more layoffs but $25k increase in salary.
Frankly feeling torn. Also, yes, I realize how great it is to have options these days.

Just curious, has anyone ever been laid off right before they were about to give their 2 week notice for leaving to another job?

Has anyone and their firm been “fired” from a client project? What was the reason and your experience?

Project has not been going okay over the last 3 months, but continues onward through December. My client is beginning to have layoffs. Additionally, the client employee attitude towards consultants has become very negative.

Do partners usually have a say in staff layoffs? Who decides to lay off the partners?

How much is too much reaching out? Some context: I’m on the bench and I spoke to my SM about my availability on a Monday. They say they will find me some work. But I don’t hear from him at all. When do I reach out and how often should I follow up until he actually gives me what I need. The layoffs here at Accenture has me stressing over WBS codes so much.

For all the Deloitte folks that were let go (including myself), what are your thoughts on using your severance period and trying to start something for ourselves? Using our client network to start small in key impactful areas of their business?

For those of us who have been laid off, are you searching immediately for a new role or are you taking time before looking again?

Laid off today after being called upon to help win business for the practice. Helped refine the presentation AND presented to the client for the win. An hour after the big client presentation, laid off. If that’s not cold, I don’t know what else is. Any other ice cold lay off stories?

General question: If you get laid off from a job, and have ~6 month’s of expenses saved, would you simply focus on getting a new job, or getting a new job that pays more? Should you ever take a pay cut, especially in times like these?

4+ yoe out of UG at a boutique consulting firm in financial services, worked in about 10 implementation and regulatory projects in BA capacity

Just got laid off from PwC after nearly four years. This was my first job out of school and I'm actually not upset. PwC has treated me EXCEPTIONALLY well, and I see a lot of upside from here.

My background is in data analytics, process/performance improvement primarily within tax, accounting and business use case development, but I really want to find a new opportunity within analytical finance, transformation or bus dev/strat.

Can you get laid off while on a billable project?

I was laid off on June 26. I am international and my OPT is coming to an end very soon. I had a call with an immigration lawyer today. Deloitte unfortunately does not offer additional support for immigrants.

I am qualified and in need of a job ASAP. I have until July 24th to find a job or I will have to start a new educational program or leave the US.

JOB REQS: 20-40 hours per week, offer compensation, e-verify employer, STEM in CS/InfoSys/CompEng

I just got laid off from a strategy consulting boutique in the UK that primarily works with PE funds doing CDD/VDD.
It goes without saying that the market is terrible. I suspect no strategy firms are hiring and it will need to be an in-house move or if I could stretch it PE/VC. What are people’s thoughts and does anyone have any advice?

Will potential employers be able to find out if you were laid off vs fired?

Why would anyone with options work at Deloitte? Layoffs during a pandemic... & they handle it classely, unlike say a McKinsey. My friends in grad school were right to stay very far away. Low brow

Laid off and applying to jobs. Is it better to say I’m laid off or should I say nothing (pretend I’m still working)?

Who has the best covid (consulting) employer? Obviously there are chunks of the workforce that are being laid off and I feel for them, but beyond keeping your job, has your employer done anything to make the situation better? I am hearing rumors of increased pay (to offset lack of expense budget which is factored into our comp), budgets for home office, going above and beyond to cover unpaid covid testing etc.

Was laid off in April after 6 months and took a new job a month ago out of desperation. The work I’m doing isn’t interesting and I’m just overall very unhappy with the culture. Is it too soon to leave?
