Fired yesterday from a manager job at an Italian place in NYC.

I was told I wasn’t "getting it" quickly enough. Took notes and did what they said.

Put in charge of the bar program and “they felt like the bar program wasn’t my strength”. But they hired me after I said I had no had bar experience.

They also gave me under three weeks to get the hang of it, and originally said they wanted me to learn it in one to two.

Anyone experience this? Seems unreasonable.

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. The same jobs open for 2 1/2 yrs reposting salaries after interviewing 100 then cutting the salary by up to $50k They say can’t find people but they fire you in 90 days when your working 80 hours a week or people are walking!
