I looked at reviews for my workplace and found a negative review from October about me. It stated that I had "the worst attitude" and that they should put me in the back so I won't have to talk to anyone. When I clicked the profile, it was a guy who looked my age which made me worry a bit. Usually, people my age and younger pay little attention to those things. Does this mean I have been rude to many people all this time? Or should I brush this off as someone that had other issues? I am bothered by this.

Do you have any friends in the department with you? I would honestly ask for feedback from them. It's always good to self evaluate your actions and demeanor when in a work setting. Some may enjoy your personality, others may not. You usually can see signs that people may be pulling away from you or acting differently than they do with others. If all seems fine, I would chalk it up to a bitter person that doesn't get your personality.

You got it! Its all in how you ask. You can even bring up the comment and say "be honest with me, should I tone it down?" Or something of that nature. You can read their body language as well to see if they are squirming a bit.

Aw, that sucks. It's always hard to read a negative review about you or the work you perform; I think anyone would be bothered by it. Can you see other reviews from that same person? Because if they are leaving others low rating reviews, then it's likely an indication that it's just how they are. However, if the review they left for you is an anomaly from the others, then you may want to look within. It was probably something out of your control, though. Keep your head up; I'm sure you do a great job :)

Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure if I can see the other reviews. I just got kind of laser-focused on that one... But good point; they may just be a grumpy online reviewer!

Is this the only negative review you've received? If so, then I wouldn't take it too seriously. It never hurts to ask a few people to see if they believe there's any validity... including a supervisor, a colleague, etc. Pay attention to whether they hesitate when answering too because sometimes that's part of the answer. ;)

Thanks, that's encouraging!

In 5 months, you've only had one bad review about your "attitude" so I would say you're doing pretty good. You can't please everyone. It's okay

You might have just been having an off day. Sometimes we're occupied with other things going on in life and don't realize that we'r being distant. That's okay. You're human

I work at a call center and we get hundreds of calls a day. Out of 100 calls, I might get 1 or two unpleasant reviews and usually it is because the customer wanted some rules bent for them that I couldn't do

Do not worry about it! Only one bad review since October? I would say that means you're doing stellar

I would ask some of your coworkers. Ask them to be honest if they've ever seen you be rude with a customer. Most likely if this was a regular thing then you manager probably would've gotten more complaints

His version of "rude" might just mean that you weren't being attentive. When it's busy in the store sometimes even I can be short with a customer or not really give them too much attention. It's not wrong necessarily because we can only handle so much at one time but remember to keep checking back in with customers so they can feel important

I strongly recommend that you do your job just because you want to do it right. And even if is not fair, logical, or reasonable, be at peace with your mind no matter the review and the reaction you receive from your company.

If you had a bunch of bad reviews, maybe you should. But one? Can't please everyone. Put it out of your mind.

It's wholly understandable that you would stress over this with what you've got going on. But if you stack it against all the times you didn't have someone leave a negative comment, then back away slowly.

I could use some advice on this situation. I’ve been working for a small family owned business in Toronto Canada for about 4months. I’ve noticed a lot of unprofessional behaviour since I’ve started (yelling at workers infront of customers) I’ve bounced around different positions so much that the owner blames 98% of stuff on me when something isn’t done, even if it’s not my responsibility anymore.A week ago I asked for an employment contract to get this straight but nothing yet. What do I do?

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.
