I have significant equity in a property (300k+) and maybe another 200k across other properties. I have a decent amount of money in cash and already 200k or so in stocks. I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

Does anyone use a brokerage account instead of a checking account? Mine offers a fee free debit/atm card and free checks which I'd rarely use but starting to question whether it is worth maintaining my "big bank" checking account that requires a $1500 minimum balance.

Received a letter from Wells Fargo today. They are offering a refinance of fixed 30 year mortgage at 3.5%. I have no idea how they can do this judging by today’s interest rates.
