At an interview with a company that happens to also be a client and I ran into two staff I know. I wonder what percentage of the audit team I'll run into.

EY from ACN: recently had an interview for their Oracle Advisory practice. Still early days, but how is EY compared to ACN? How's work life balance. Do they try to staff locally or is travel the norm?

Expecting an offer, which I’m excited for but after the interview I realized that this division is 98% start up. The title is Sales Associate however the responsibilities beyond selling are: build the sales program; responsibility for all admin; education of staff including developing and conducting training regionally; creating marketing and promotion campaigns; reporting and measurement of staff performance involved in sales. No direct reports. What is an appropriate title and salary range?

I’m one half of an in-house legal team. I followed my attorney to this company because he’s the best boss I’ve ever worked with. We are looking to add a third person, an associate. I get to be part of the interviews because the day to day work will mainly be done with my assistance and my boss rightly understands that I need to like the person. What should I ask? I’ve never interviewed anyone above me. Basically just want to know they aren’t a jerk to staff.

How risky is it to ask your client about applying for a job there? Sr client is hiring aggressively and has even hinted to my teammate that they would hire the person. However that teammate works very closely with Sr Client and I don’t (I have before but not since early summer).

Need suggestion: I submitted a job application for a in-house position posted by a recruiting agency on LinkedIn. Talked with the recruiter, she submitted my application to the company. Now both the recruiter and the staff from the company have contacted me to schedule an interview. It does not appear that they have been communicating with each other. Should I tell both of them that I have been contacted by both?

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I’m 4 rounds into the interview process for an Assistant Controller position in SoCal.

For the next round, I’ll be meeting with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and 5 other junior accounting staff.

I’ll have 30 minutes to explain a month-end close task (of my choice) to the accounting team.

Also, I’ll have to analyze a random reconciliation and explain improvements that can be made.

I’m just a 2nd year manager, so I’m getting so nervous, and any insight or tips would be appreciated!
