Expect Trump's next tweet: "McKinsey is fake news. SAD!"
I'll take McKinsey's analysis over anything that comes out of Congress at this point.

Of course a repeal of government subsidized health insurance means at least a temporary reduction in % with health insurance. But what matters is the cost & availability of healthcare itself, not insurance. What good is 'Obamacare' insurance with high deductibles that people can't/don't use? The more important question is what a new plan would mean for long-term cost trends - if it increases competition and reduces moral hazard, then it would be long-term good for the country. We'll see if that happens.
Millions lost "their" healthcare under ACA too.
Then you should wait for McKinsey's analysis...not this half baked version
I mean they extrapolate two slides to the entire country. There's a reason McKinsey didn't include a national calculation - there are lots of other considerations and it's likely impossible to calculate with the limited amount of information available about a republican plan
Thanks OP
@OP CBO is a non-partisan, independent entity
Many concepts of the free market break down in healthcare. Is it fair to ration healthcare via the price mechanism (i.e. rich people get more)? Can people compare prices for healthcare when pricing is so opaque? Do consumers have a way of understanding differences in quality without being medical experts?
Wasn't a free market. Government mandates at state level are a huge part of the problem.
Exactly!
I'm pretty sure the Congressional Budget Office will do this calculation for real when there's actual legislation on the table.
Same thinking applies to many services @OW1 - education is another.
Misconception there was a free market for healthcare before ACA. What percent of the market were Medicare and Medicaid plus federal employee insurance? Throw in significant regulations on everything and crazy lawsuits. The free market wasn't broken, it wasn't free

^^ . Hoping to see some trump supporters here now :)
@A2: Mostly... have you read about the "dynamic scoring" mess?
I guarantee the CBO knows what it's doing
It was insanely broken as a market, free or not, @P2.
