I would agree with you. You get a lot of industry experience, context, lingo etc. You could hop to adjacant industries however. For example martech --> data --> infra...but it would be a few years at each one

Definitely. I like to use the term “same sh*t, different data”.
If you understand the underlying tools and technology (the “how”), then the “what” doesn’t matter so much.
Most companies use fairly similar tech stacks, and industry knowledge isn’t too hard to learn with some product specific training.
