Humans are not really meant to withstand the type of pressures work puts on us. Meditate, breathe, read Eckhert Tolle (we are living in a world of insanity that we created ourselves), and you can always ask for meds from a psychiatrist. I am a mother and a PPEDD and all the moms I know in my neighborhood are on meds for depression and anxiety because life and motherhood is overwhelming.
Thank you, I am reluctant to take meds but today I honestly feel I could not even function so maybe it would help
My therapist recommended a book to me called, “When Panic Attacks” by Dr. David Burns. It’s good for folks that don’t want to immediately go the medication route and are looking for long term relief vs temporary relief. It has helped me a lot in some ways and I’ve also been listening to self help podcasts.
I can relate. Just don't let it get past the point of no return. Call your firm's EAP for a referral to a therapist or other mental health provider ASAP. It does not always have to be meds. There are other things (meditation, exercise, deep breathing, apps like Calm) you can try. Above all, remember that it's just a job, not your whole life or identity. Take a break if you can. Even just one day off can make you feel better. Hang in there. It gets better. (I speak from experience. I've been suicidal due to work stress and even spent some time in a psych ward. I felt hopeless, but got through it!)
You can get though this! One step at a time. One moment at a time
Above all pray
Headspace is great. I also started on meds about 2 months ago and it has been life changing
Go through your EAP. Completely anonymous, and they do a great job of letting you know what resources are available, making referrals to psychiatrists/other mental health professionals, etc. It’s not fun, but it gets better, trust me.
Also consider downloading headspace. I’ve found it very beneficial !
Find a good counselor/therapist and commit to going weekly. Have been going to the past 4 years and it’s been a huge help.
