Compared to facilities which company (Samsung and Intel) provides best facilities? I know Intel has lot of benifits like free cab, child day care reimbursement, telephone bill reimbursement, 15% discount on shares purchase, very good leave structure, Free UDEMY for developing skills, Intel wiki for lot of knowledge gathering etc... No harm in taking advice from a financial planner for dealing with big sum of investable funds. If you do so, see a fiduciary with fee-only cost (no commission for AUM).
But remember, no one cares about your money than you do. Read up on basic investing, DCA, total stock market funds, general FIRE. Quite easily done even if you're talking about 100s of thousands.
Maybe real estate when the market cools off?
👆I’ve been waiting on this for YEARS!
I had a similar situation (inherited from my grandfather and had no financial advisor) and I ended up setting up a relationship with his financial advisor. I figured they had managed his money pretty well that there was this much left over, and he was a great judge of character so I trusted his choices. It was also the easy solution during a challenging, stressful time (executing the will + managing difficult family dynamics + grieving). We don’t often meet in person because the advisor is across the country, but it’s worked out great for me so far.
I too once thought I had a mutually beneficial relationship with my FA. Went with him after deciding I didn’t have the time to do it on my own. Yanked my money a week after he tried to sell me an annuity and have no regrets.
