Snow Days during busy season!! Yikes! How do you all juggle kids at home demanding attention and all of the demands of an unrelenting busy season day (that does not stop for snow!)

Does the firm have emergency daycare? They will come to your house for however many hours you need. You just lock yourself in a room and work. Alternatively the team just needs to understand this stuff happens and you’ll work early when the kids nap and when they sleep.

like

Hopefully your team appreciates the reality of having kids. If they don’t, have a talk with the manager about how you don’t always have control over their schedules.

The Just in Case reimbursement program will reimburse up to $1k when your regular childcare isn’t available, or when you need to work late or travel. I use that every busy season. Have a neighbor high schooler whose also off of school come over for the day and that can cover it.

We do pwc op but it’s day care centers and they prob aren’t open if schools are closed. Look on the prepared parent microsite.

KPMG has backup care either in a center for free (15 days max) or at your house for a small copay. Haven't used it yet but it can really come in handy in a crunch. They only need a couple hours notice for them to be at your home.

You can do what some people in my office do and bring your kid to work! Super not distracting and great for kids on the 3/5 days a week that happens... Ps not just during busy season, and keep them here until 1 am!

like

It is challenging. Good part is that when it's snowing I'm not expected to come into the office, but I still need to work, and with the kids home it's tough. I find that everything else aside, the thing that makes the most difference is how rested I am. If I made sure to have a decent sleep the night before I can manage much better with juggling work and the kids, but if I'm low on sleep all hell breaks loose.

D1 Emergency daycare would be awesome!! I wish we did.

PwC 1 - thanks I will!

BDO 1 - Wow, that is insane!!

That's awesome PwC 2. I wasn't familiar w/ the reimbursement program but will look into it!

Pwc Op, look at life works to find it.
BDO1, that is a nice idea, to be able to take your kids to work some days would be great

Gift ideas for GF dad? We have been dating a year and a half, I get along with him super well. He is dealing with some medical complications so isn’t to active at the moment but loves cooking and golfing. He is one of those guys who already has everything he needs, and they are super wealthy so I feel bad getting him any clothing or accessories knowing it wouldn’t be as nice as the things he wears, although I know he doesn’t expect anything and would genuinely appreciate anything I got him

I’m mid 30s F. Recently started seeing this guy, where he is “good enough”. Good conversations, decent time together, he has a good heart, but nothing about him shines. - not fit (I work out everyday and play sports), meh social skills (he doesn’t have best friends, just few he hangs out with), bit less energy than me.
There is a feeling in me that says “he’s going to be a comfortable life partner” and “he is just good enough, but if I break up I won’t find someone for a long time”
Do I stay?

Hi everyone I am relocating to Hyderabad next month. Even though I look forward to meeting new people I can’t seem to ignore the fact that I will move away from family. My family situation is already complicated, my mom and dad are not on good terms so we don’t live together and when I move it’ll get worse. I am financially independent but I feel guilty for not being there for them. Is there any possibility of getting transferred to Gurgaon office(a lot closer to my home)if I talk to my manager?

The man I love is now married to someone else. He was my best friend since university (were now in early 30s), we never pursued anything romantically (was too scared to tell him) and now he’s married to someone else and they have a baby girl. I went to see them and they have this perfect home and family. His wife is perfect, pretty & young and smart. I’m still single. I want to be happy for him but I was so jealous and sad and felt like crap. I can never tell him. Just had to let it out. :((

Random question but do you let your kids hang out in your bedroom and use your master bath if applicable? My kids always seem to want to use our bathroom instead of theirs and my spouse doesn't care but I grew up with my parent's room basically being off limits and think I'd prefer it that way.
