I did not get tested for ADHD as an adult, so not sure of the cost for that, but I do have ADHD and still see a psychiatrist now. I live in a fairly high cost of living city and out of pocket cost to see him is $150 for a 45 minute session. The laws vary by state, but you can generally get tested by a psychologist (my office runs $100 per session) and then receive medication from your PCP. The medication is highly controlled, so you will have to go back often for refills. They cannot usually prescribe more than a couple months out.
I would definitely consider switching plans. You will need to have follow up appointments once /month or every other month, diagnosis, and depending on your Rx benefits, the drugs themselves (including generics) are not inexpensive.
Yep - switch plans; those copays are out of this world. Small price to pay for peace of mind
