Is it worth it to have a Fidelity investment associate to manage your retirement 401K account? I am 25, have about 43K in my 401k, more aggressive type of investment. I’ve been using the one-size-fits-all target date funds.

Is there any real exit opportunities for an executive compensation/employee benefits junior associate? I see a handful of employment in-house counsel roles and some compensation in-house roles — but those either require 7+ years of experience or some sort of employment/litigation experience (which i never do). I had a five-year Big Law plan, but i don’t think I can make it that long!

Does anyone have any thoughts on what’s currently market for an in-house counsel job at a healthcare company (most are PE backed)? Currently a third year big law associate that works in the healthcare group doing primary working on PE healthcare transactions. Starting to put out feelers at a few companies (all of which have asked my expected starting comp) and want to avoid the sticker shock of the decrease in comp 😂

Are you eligible for CPA bonus/reimbursement when hired as an experienced associate? Specifically for EY advisory, I’m wondering if I will be compensated when I finish the rest of my CPA exams

Companies that keep renewing a job on LinkedIn, why would you do that ? I have been seeing a job posted and refreshed without fail for the third month now. Are you just collecting resumes? Hoping to meet candidates and understand how their organizations function? Or is the pool so terrible that you must refresh the posting and hope other, more suitable candidates apply? This company in particular is a reputable pension fund in Canada (think CPP, PSP or Ontario Teachers’); associate role.

What kind of opportunities exist for a healthcare corporate/M&A attorney and what characteristics make an associate a desirable candidate to companies in the healthcare industry?

I'm an in-house counsel at a national company. Our GC is leaving. I’m the only other in-house attorney, and I’ve only been here for 4 months. I like the job. Previously, I was a 6th-year associate.
The CEO asked me to stay and implied a larger role, but doesn't have a clear picture of what that looks like. Asked for my help in redefining. Even unsure as to timing or whether we'll hire another GC. Questions for Fishbowl: (1) benefits or pitfalls? (2) questions or requests you'd have for CEO?

Currently a C at Deloitte with 2.5 YOE, not in strategy. I am considering an offer from Strategy& for an Associate level position with 100K base. This salary is almost equal to what I currently make, so the only benefit would be the brand and firmly positioning myself in strategy, where I want to be. But I would also lose my network and various other benefits by leaving D now. It seems like I should reject it and try to move into Strategy at D until I find something better. Thoughts?

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? Does consulting leadership see an existential talent “crisis” of sorts coming from covid? No travel has benefits, but we’ve never had so much churn before at the lower staff levels. No travel, points, and comped meals is basically associate payments that are no longer being paid out.

Hey, can someone share the total compensation picture at PWC for advisory? I’d be coming in at senior associate level. For comparison, my base salary is 120k, bonus around 10%, 401k match at 6%, and ESPP for 10% of my salary at a 15% share price discount. What does the full package look like at PWC in addition to base salary?

BTA at Deloitte vs Strategy at ZS? Associate level interested in healthcare/health tech but not really life sciences. ZS culture seems like a better fit + pay is more competitive (around 15k more), but wondering if I should go with Deloitte for project opportunities more aligned to my interests.

I was offered an Assistant GC position inhouse at a prestigious company in my field but the role is primarily a contract review one (as part of a contract review team). The job seems stable, benefits good, hours good, and pay is what I expected for NYC in-house market. I’m worried about long term growth though. Are contract positions dead-ends or can I eventually lateral to Associate GC position that covers more ground? Help!

Potential incoming KPMG experienced hire looking to negotiate a comp. Nearing 14YOE with an MS. Currently at 220k base (4-6% annual bonus, 9% 401k match) at a company, and want to bring me on at the Senior Associate level (lol I know, I know). Gonna try to upgrade to a Manager level role if possible. Based on where I’m at, is KPMG going to even be close? I’m okay with a lateral move as well, since I’d like experience and branding also.

2nd year associate here (going into my third). Will have about 114k in student loan debt at the turn of the year. I have roughly 60k in my investment account, 45k in 401k and an adequate balance in my emergency fund. I also contribute to my HSA and will cross the threshold for investing that in January. Was let go as a staff 2 at 77k in September and currently have 3 offers in deciding between them. Would really appreciate any feedback. 1. 3rd year associate at PWC -HIA at 85k. 2. Transformation analyst at a big 3 automaker 83.5k 10% bonus. 3. Product development role at a healthcare startup. 100k 7.5k sign on and 7.5k bonus in 3 months. Potential 20% bonus at year end.

I’m a 5th year associate at an AM200 firm where typical partner track is 7-8 years. The firm is pretty hush re partnership likelihood, but I’ve always gotten good reviews, met hours, and even generated a little business.

That said, I honesty have no idea if I want to be partner. I don’t know what comp looks like, collection expectations, equity buy-in, or benefits looks like.... when is the appropriate time to ask these questions? I’d hate working another 3+ years for something I don’t want.

Would you recommend an associate making 90k base in NYC prioritize maxing out their 401k and Roth IRA even if it means they won't save beyond that? Assume debt has been paid off and 3 month emergency fund in savings

As I am from the industry and haven't heard about this company before, I would like some comments or thoughts about working for this company? How do they invest in their employees (like pay raise, promotions, etc)?
