Have an offer to leave for industry for a Sr. Accountant role for an F500 that, despite the economy, is growing rapidly. Currently an A3 in the greater Michigan market. CPA. 20% pay bump plus 8% on average bonus thereafter, excluding any future pay increases from promotions. Solid benefits/ retirement match. ESPP. Do I abandon ship?

I have 2 offers:

One is in internal audit, $89k (middle of pay grade), 10-17% annual bonus, around 40 hrs a week and rarely any overtime.

The other is a senior accountant role, $86k (high end of pay grade), 10% annual bonus, 40 hrs a week except for period closings (45-50hrs).

What would you do?

Midwest A3. CPA. Have an offer to jump to industry for about a 12% increase in pay, 63k to 70k. Sr Accountant role. Is this reasonable?

Round 2 Revenue accountant position interview coming up. They said to expect a case study. How would you recommend preparing for something like this?

My wife runs an exec search firm and one of her clients is looking for a Sr. International Tax Accountant for a global logistics company HQ’d in Atlanta (currently remote). This role is open to those earlier in their career and ideally with a couple years experience in the consulting industry in multinational corporations and having experience with tax provision software(s). In tax, want to get out and do audit, but getting into a public accounting role in audit is tough without taking about a $10k-$15k paycut. Would doing a staff accountant role (would be a small pay bump) let me transition to audit later? Or is this a bad plan?

Is there a salary difference between a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A and a Senior Accountant? Assuming you have the same amount of accounting experience when applying for each position.

Hi! I’ve been thinking about two possible paths to making it to a controller one day in financial services.

Path one: stay until manager in big four audit and leave for a lateral position, only have audit exp
Path two: leave as a senior associate and spend two to three years as a senior accountant in private to get familiar with operations and the close process, then jump again for a promotion. Have a mix of audit and operational and accounting exp, but no title

Which path would be better?

I have accepted a mid size company 6 months contract staff accountant role. However, I will have interviews with couple of large companies by the same week of my start date. My question is, if I’m lucky enough to get the offer, is it bad to leave the contract after a couple of months? I don’t see any legal restrictions.

Could anyone share what a reasonable salary would be for a Senior Accountant role in Los Angeles (industry)? I’m a third year senior with almost 5 years of experience (3 and half years in PA and 1 year in CMAAS). Any input is appreciated since I’m not familiar with the area.

Trying to exit out of PA as a senior with CPA, and I’m applying to FP&A, Sr. Accountant, and Sr. revenue accountant roles to cast my net wide. When the time comes, I’m not really sure which one I would chose. Nothing particularly interests me, and I’ve just been slowly inching forward in my life without a real direction. I feel like a college applicant again, trying to decide what my major will be. All I know is I’m exhausted and drained from role. How bad is taking a gap in my resume to gather

I’m not happy here, but I don’t want to leave before getting at least 6 years of experience or manager title. Anyone else feel the same way? I just wonder if I should go, and just leave for a senior accountant position. I have three clients I’m working on along with a quarter deadline next week, and I just got sick and had surgery and feel like I have no time to breathe. I’m still not 100 percent, but people are already waiting for me to come back. Just so tired of this.

Is it possible to get into b4 FDD from an incur that senior accountant, FAAS, technical accounting or nation firm audit role?

Advice needed: looking to leave public accounting and tax for good. I have two offers between a financial analyst and an accountant role. Based on your experience, which of the two has the best/better exit opportunities (should I decide to pursue the finance realm or something else) and better work life balance? Anyone familiar with salary in orange county (SoCal) and LA/El Segundo area? Interviewed for a senior accountant role in a public health care industry in Irvine, but their maximum pay is 85K. I thought Irvine should have pretty good pay too but this surprises me. Even a private Healthcare company in El Segundo pays more than that for the same role but with even lesser experience and easier job duties...

Just wrapped my first year in analytics for due diligence. I’m a finance-savvy data guy, not an accountant. Mostly work with SAAS-model targets. Most clients are PE. Am I on track to work PortOps in the next year or 2? Do I need to get an MBA or a technical master’s before applying? What other exit ops are out there for me with 2-3 YOE?

Is this salary too low? I'm @ final interview for senior accountant and job posting said $60-65k. Before you say it's too low right away, my experience is on a low end of this of this role. Just 1 year auditer @ national top 10, 6 months intern at same firm, 1 year accounting intern at local private firm, and 2 years doing AP clerk. I'm a licensed CPA and in MCOL. I really want this title for growth but don't want to get stiffed. It's a large corp w/ great benefits.

Accountant fish. Can someone explain to me why people choose to do accounting? From what I’ve heard, it’s lower pay than advisory by 15-20%, brutal hours for most the year, and, stereotypically, can be seen as boring. This ISNT a dig at the role. I’m truly curious of an insiders opinion. What am I missing?

Had a job interview for a Senior Accountant role at a PE firm and they asked for salary expectations... I said $65-$80. Did I set the bar too low?

I'm up for promotion to M1 this summer. But I honestly cant stand the thought of one more busy season, and am fairly confident I can land a job in private industry in the next month. Am I crazy to leave as a S3, 6 months short of a promotion to M1, for a job as a senior accountant in private industry? Or should I try to stick it out to M1 and then bounce for an accounting manager position?

Would love some wisdom and advice. So I took my current job as a property accountant right when I finished my bachelor's but before I had finished my master's. I have accepted a full-time offer to work in PA September 2021. I know things will also be busy in PA, but I wanted to try and study and/or knock out some CPA Exam sections before starting in September. UK- I have been offered two positions. One in corporate finance with the same salary at a top 25 firm or move to London into a hybrid role (group accountant with aspects of forecasting +budgeting). Really struggling what to choose.

What’s the best role for an accountant who doesn’t want to be doing technical accounting? I feel like public accounting is for me outside of the hours, but it’s all I know. I’m interested in sales, staff development, training, recruiting , community relations, etc.

I left public accounting 6 months ago for a Senior Accountant role, and my company was just acquired. The deal is supposed to finalize shortly and I’m wondering how I should proceed. I haven’t heard anything regarding the acquiring company’s plans for our workforce, location, etc so I’m not sure whether I’ll be retained. People currently working in cyber risk - Looking to switch from DT audit into DT cyber risk after one busy season as a senior. Not because I don’t like audit but I want a more dynamic career than just being an accountant. What skills should I have/what can I specifically to prepare for this type of role? What's better for work life balance - go contracting or going into industry/in house? Candidate A: leaving public for private as a manager with one busy season complete, or as a fresh new manage, five years of experience, only experience is in public accounting
Candidate B: left big four as a senior associate to industry as a senior accountant. Four years of exp in big four, two years of experience in industry

I’m currently a staff accountant but I’d like to make the pivot to a financial analyst/FP&A type role in the future. What are some ways I could frame staff accountant duties on a resume for analyst applications? Obviously my variance analysis and preparation of budget items are good starting points, but does anyone have thoughts on this?
