I referred someone and he just sent me a long text that he is cancelling the interview (citing that he had a second thought about the position) after convincing HR and my Partner that this person is interested and can do the job.
Note: He called me several times prior to the referral to follow up and even assured me that he was really interested in the position. How should I handle it?

Hi all - my partner was laid off in April and still having a difficult time finding work in the DC area. Thanks to your advice earlier in the year, he’s back in school to finish his bachelors in IS Management + taking the NET+ cert exam soon. Will it be hard for him to find a job until he gets his degree or will the cert help with an entry level job to tie him over? For reference he’s had 1 full-time role with a tech company in acct mgt. and (2) IT support internships. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been at FB as a client solutions partner for 2 months. I initially turned down startup earlier for FB but I’m not in love with my role at FB since I want to do product. Startup I initially rejected told me there’s an PM opening. They are aware ive been at F but I’ve told ceo in the past that I’m not happy since I want to do product which is why he reacted out. I want to do product long term - should I leave or stay at FB. TC is 140k vs 160k at FB. 2.5 YOE

Friend of a friend is a senior partner at MM PE fund and wrote emails to the VPs running interviews, recommending me as a "very strong candidate" for an associate role. I'm supposed to set up time with the VPs next week to introduce myself. How should handle this calI? "Hi - here's my background, call me if you're hiring?" don't think they're going to hire me without transaction experience. Fake it until you make it? Maybe propose coming in as an analyst if they say no?

After three rounds of interview, recruiter wants to have a call with partner as a final round. What is the intervw with a partner like ? What is the role of a partner in Deloitte. I am interviewing for specialist master role for cyber security. What is the ask for compensation for this position at D and what is the signing bonus and target bonus like ? 7YOE and 135k TC

My partner is 12 years older and aiming to retire at 60. Has anyone been in the same position and how did you deal with it? Retire super early or stay working while they move to Palm Springs?

Align to non-M&A offering but do a lot of work in the space (DD, integrations). B4 recruiter reached out and wants me to provide resume@for review with hiring partner. Does it work if I provide a bio with summary of M&A projects (client names removed) instead of a traditional resume? Also plan to list education and previous roles.

I have 10+ years of SaaS sales experience and thinking about a pivot to a partner/alliance/channel role. I've worked at large tech and startups but always in a direct selling role. In most of my roles, I've worked alongside and helped enabling partners on product, sales process, negotiation etc.

2YOE considering a capital markets role at a BB. My current role is great (interesting projects, plenty of partner/client exposure) but why work 70 hr weeks at big 4 for mediocre pay and low bonus when you can work at a bank for 2x comp?

What are some upsides/downsides to accepting a non-partner track associate position at a v100 firm? Aside from the obvious—not ever making partner, which is not something I care about.

Start a practice or stay? I have an exit opp to be on the ground floor of an IT/cyber practice (5 people) at a top 15 firm (~750 mil rev). I have a solid position now with partner on the 5-10 yr horizon. This move would put me at sr manager with partner in the next few years if the practice succeeds. Do I stay the course at an established practice or take the chance to create something new?

Just made partner and my wife and I are expecting a baby. Curious if anyone has been in this position previously and how they did their paternity leave. For the record, my business practice is very supportive, but I am worried about metrics/targets in my first year too. Any insight (especially anecdotal) would be appreciated!

Mid-level associate here so I’m in a position of managing juniors but also reporting to partners on projects. Often a partner assigns a junior a task and then tells them to have me look at the work product before passing it back to the partner. The work product is consistently weak, (wrong on the law, facts are unsupported, late) so I can’t pass it on because my name is attached to it and repeated mentoring hasn’t taken. I don’t get to pick my team. Any advice for managing this junior better?

When you select projects, which consideration factor is more important? i.e. WLB, the client, your role on the project, the content itself, the partner, the team, etc.

Can you give me a sense of what a 4th year partner / managing director can expect at a B4? Role is mostly strategy and operational design in financial services. Looking for salary and bonus range.

Manager / Partner are supporting my step up role on current project but SA (newly promoted) has started assigning me all their tactical work on a workstream I don’t own/am not responsible for. I want to help and be a team player but this is also not really helping my career goals —- Is there any way for me to tell them to do their own stuff or do I need to keep doing their dirty work until I get promoted ? Long term project so team is unlikely to change for 5-6months

A recruiter called me about a position. I have friend there and I also worked against a partner there.

Should I get in touch with my friend (or even better, the partner) instead of using the recruiter? The job is not posted on the website though (I just checked)
