Just read a LinkedIn post from someone who was laid off from Twitter. They mentioned how to had just spent the last week completing projects that should have taken several quarters to do. Then they were let go without a thought. Remember, your company is not your family.

Twitter layoffs suck. Any layoffs suck. But hard to watch the masses on LinkedIn (again) fumbling all over themselves today to offer their help, connections, resources, networks etc.. You know, when it's "trendy." But when regular everyday unemployed people like me (us?) need help, it's crickets. Why? Because on most days you don't get to virtue signal & beef up your LinkedIn profile by *quietly* giving someone an extra hand or morsel of empathy. Help people always, not just when it's "cool."

Feeling pretty bad for all the tech side ad folks getting laid off the last couple days. Brutal.

I just got fired from a terrible agency. Just a bad group of people at the top. They offered me two weeks severance but I have to sign something saying I won’t disparage them. Am I crazy that I’m torn?? I obviously desperately need the $ but I also want to warn people to stay the f away…

Did anyone get laid off at Hearts & Science last month on the AT&T account? It was announced quietly, but I haven't found those impacted.

Already asked this in another bowl but figured I’d also ask here: with all these layoffs, do those working brand side/in-house have more job security than those on the agency side?

I'm getting tired of being a forced-by-layoff freelancer and not having any freelance gigs so far. Not sure if it's cause

A) I don't have the right contacts
B) the market is awful ATM
C) i suck.

not a question just a gripe... people at my agency are quitting, getting fired, or hired in with not-enough experience.

our teams are totally pinched and keep getting put in terrible spots (i've been brought in to help fix multiple projects at the last minute without being briefed at all and it's happening to my supervisor and colleagues too)

Thoughts on asking for a new manager?

So my current CD kinda doesn't give any direction. They look at what I've done and change like one word. Maybe I'm an acd and I don't need much oversight? They also ask me to help lighten their load but never know what needs to be done and tell me to ask the account or design team. I just don't think they are super interested in working any more. 1 junior and a mid level already asked to leave this team. I don't wanna cause trouble or get them (or me) fired

There was a round of layoffs this week across Omnicom agencies. They seem to be trying to keep it quiet but people are freaking out. Anyone impacted?

Have you ever been fired in a way that did not leave you feeling crushed? I have to let someone go but really do not want to destroy their spirit. What can I say to them?

Honesty time. If your company offered you a package/severance to volunteer to be terminated, would you take it? For the purposes of the hypothetical situation— say package is 2 weeks for every year of your service. (Can anyone in HR tell me how accurate that estimate is?)

Is anyone asking for bonuses or raises in this recession-like atmosphere? Been at my agency for about a year now and want to ask but we also haven’t been winning much new biz and things seem financially tight. It’s also a pretty small place so I wouldnt want to ask if it means costing someone or myself a job should layoffs happen…

Day 14 of being laid off.

I'm working on building healthier habits in the morning as a way to start my day in a better mindset. But it sucks that while i was on my morning outdoor workout i get an email saying that the interview i had a few days ago went nowhere at this in-house shop.

I was very excited about the opportunity. I guess i need further humbling down or at least manage my expectations better.

But this is just the beginning of a new day — and i wish you all a great one.

So does anyone know what happened with those droga layoffs?

I’ve been a jr. in the industry for only a year. I’m at a large and reputable agency, but I feel as though I’m not getting the experience I need. Everyone is spread pretty thin with workloads, and I haven’t been able to receive the coaching I need to advance. Nor do I have anything book worthy. Now we are undergoing a restructuring which sounds like code for layoffs. So I’m worried that I’m already dead in the water before I can even start swimming in my career.

Any advice?

A friend of mine was let go with no warning. No PIP, no probation period, after less than a year…by an agency that’s part of a holding company (not private). Has anyone had any luck negotiating their severance? They only offered them 2 weeks. 🤔

I’ve been fired as a junior more than once. I was given little to do at my last agency and was almost never given a negative review on anything. Is there anything creative I can pivot to?

What do you do on the rare occasion when you have virtually no work?

Summer was busy with lots of long days and a handful of weekends. But I’ve had essentially zero to do all week.

Part of me feels guilty but then again I don’t because I don’t think my agency feels guilty for the long days/weekends.

I've been in my current role for 6 months, working under a full-time CD and freelance CD. I'd been over-performing and leading creative on a large campaign for our most important client, when suddenly the full-time CD was fired and the freelancer's contract is up next week. Neither of their roles are being replaced, leaving me at the helm. Am I crazy for thinking this calls for a promotion and raise this soon?
