I’m hoping to steer clear of any scams by posting & I know it’s been posted before but, again, scams. Anyway, I am looking for something that can be done remotely on nights and weekends after I get home from my daily in-office job. My sister passed away & I’m now helping raise her kids. With Christmas coming, I’m nervous and dreading the season not only to not have her but will I make it a happy one for the kids. I need extra income but need to be home with them in the evenings.

Do you guys ever feel like you're 'too Asian' in the workplace but 'not Asian enough' when it comes to family/friends? My morals are rooted in Asian traditions, but can't speak my native language well

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. My fiancé will NOT stop talking about her ex. After I found out they were texting arguing she justified it by saying it was about the dogs and not them. Even though Her social media is full of his pics. She still sends him $50 a month for dog food, still goes to work right by his place and suspiciously needs keys. Sometimes when my spouse snores i’l flick them real hard and they will wake up panicked and I’ll say “ are you okay? It was just a dream a bad dream...shhh just sleep” and then they will calm down and fall back asleep with less of a snore 🥴

I hope he’s in as much pain as I am. The way he ended it was so cold and selfish and unlike how he was any other time with me. It was like a personality switch. I’ve never been so wrong about someone. I’m not sure how to process or recover from that part of it.

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Is it common for an SE to need to do analyst-style research for a POV/POC? This research helps guides our team of analysts in configuring the product’s environment for the POC. As an SE, I’m tasked with this research since I’m customer-facing but our analysts are not. Idea being that I can apply knowledge of the customer’s requirements.
