Anyone that’s guilting their friends into taking on unnecessary debt is no friend at all.

Doesn’t matter it’s intentional or “only” out of ignorance, doing so is incredibly selfish.

BUT, the friends also need to say something if the expenses start to exceed what they’re willing and/or able to spend. The bride-to-be’s reaction will be a good indicator of whether the friendship is worth maintaining.

Agree with all of this. Always the woman’s fault. Spend $100K of their partners families money and make all the guest spend a crap ton of money. It’s the most narcissistic thing in the world. Marriage used to be a sacred thing now it’s a look at me show for the selfish bride

Hi All,

I live with my mom (Property owner) in delhi and pay 16.5k pm as house rent for HRA deduction.

Now, she need some lumsum amount of 5 lakhs and I would like to pay this but also show this as house rent while filing ITR.

2 MAIN QUESTIONS -

1. Can I pay 5 lakh and show as house rent in HRA while filing ITR?
2. Total yearly rent is 16.5 × 12 = 198k. Can I show remaining amount i.e. 302k as Rent for next year?

Thanks in advance.

I recently bought my 1st home in TX. I want to get into real estate and eventually own/rent out multiple homes. Are there any good recommendations/tips on books/articles/websites that others have used to get started?

I've read about HELOC and cash out refinance to get a 2nd home but articles are so scattered that it gets confusing which is better in terms of tax benefits and immediate costs, etc. Anything others have found helpful that summarized how to get started would be great!

About to get about $10k from freelance. I have a full time job so my bills are already covered. Unsure how to split the $10k - got about $3k on credit cards to pay off, but no other debt. Should I throw the rest into savings? Buy some more stock (have a few $100 invested already)? Could do a bit of each of course but as I split it up it feels like less and less and like I'm not going to see substantial growth either way.

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.
