I had a recruiter at company reach out asking basic questions and interest for a job and then said when she returned from vacation would set up a zoom call. Today I get a template rejection email. No explanation, no follow up email saying they’ve gone in a different direction even. What the actual eff is that??? This is up there with the rudest I’ve ever been treated during a job interview process. Anyone else have a similar experience? 🤬

I interviewed for a fund, HM is very focused on providing me with detailed day to day responsibilities. Feels like he is trying to be very clear on what I will get into. At the same time it’s hard to establish a conversation as he talked on and on. Any strategies for building that connection over zoom? Can I ask them to conduct second interviews in person?

I I don’t understand some people in the workforce. How do some coworkers same level think they can just ignore your work related questions on Skype (3-4 consecutive nice messages) and think they can demand tasks from you? This comes across as a very aggressive attitude to me.

How often are critical roles at your company vacant? I’ve been at my current company for >4 years, and I was reflecting on how we seem to constantly be under-staffed. Every time someone leaves, we treat it as temporary that everyone else will need to stretch themselves and pick up the slack, and eventually we do fill that role, but then someone else leaves shortly afterwards, and we are back to being stretched again. It’s super tiring, and I wonder how normal it is.

Is wearing a tie to a zoom interview weird or overkill? Does it depend on round?

Hi there, I am looking for some social skills advice. I’ve been working remotely for so long that I noticed my social skills have seen a severe decline in my latest in person team events (eg I zone out unexpectedly, not really sure what to say at times, the usual zoom habits that aren’t obvious through zoom, etc). Any tips on how to recover from this quickly?

Looking for on-the-go working and hence internet for 3 months- Colorado and Montana. As I will be at remote places with no guarantee of internet, any suggestions on reliable internet plans for video zoom calls?

SOS! In-house interview w/ large Corp. 1st interview (after initial recruiter screening) was with one In-House Attorney 2 weeks ago. Early last week, recruiter scheduled 2nd interview with VP-level attorney for that following Fri. On Fri, entered Zoom meeting, but no one showed. I emailed recruiter 5 mins into scheduled time to make sure I had the correct Zoom link; she apologized, said work emergency had come up w/ VP & would reschedule post-holiday. Should I follow-up this morning or wait?

Was at a BBQ yesterday. Friend went to the bathroom and then line was SO LONG. She was gone for like 45 minutes. When she came back and told me what happened she said, "This doesn't happen with virtual events."

I think she still does zoom events even though things are opening up. She wears 2 masks out despite being fully vaccinated.

I think some people really kind of enjoyed the pandemic on some level.

Why is it that suddenly every single ad coming out of the UK is a crash-zoom, match-cut, camera technique bonanza? 👀 🤷🏻‍♂️

I noticed a small visual mistake in our online edit but the top bosses kept on talking that they proceeded to finish the Zoom call. Should I bring this concern to my boss or do I just let it go?

Looking for advice. Have an upcoming tech case study as a final interview stage for VP technology consulting role.

There is nothing to prepare in advance. Interviewer will brief me over Zoom and give me the case study instructions. I have the remainder of the first hour to prepare based on the scenario provided.

In the second hour, I will present my response to the case study to a panel. Afterwards, there will be an additional time for interview questions and discussion with the panel.

I recently started a new job. I realized my first day of onboarding in the office (interviews were Zoom) that I hooked up with my now boss in college. I didn’t mention it but I think they realized it too. Now they’ve created a semi-hostile work environment… 🙃

On a meet and greet zoom with a potential client today. Junior employee and company senior partner. Junior asks if we can supply him with an animator by Friday. I respond politely that we’re not talent management, it would cost him more than hiring directly, and it would shrink our freelance pool for our other project clients. The senior partner sees the sense in this a mile off. Now the question: did the senior partner include the junior in order to get him to ask these sorts of questions?
