Does anyone else get a little bit of anxiety when they get an email notification from work? Like, I always feel there is a problem, especially if it’s from my principal.

Always. I'm honestly so done with my principal this year.

Same. I just told them I am actively seeking employment elsewhere. The reply was “Okay.” The true sign of someone that sees no problem with themselves and sees no room for change.

When I feel like that, I think What is the worst thing that could happen? And if I haven't done anything wrong, I know I'm safe.

Same, and yet I double check that inbox before I go to sleep at night. 🧐 why???

100%...especially if it says something to the effect of "come see me."

Had an associate of mine recently confront me and say he has a crush on me. Told him nope and that would be very unprofessional. He has reassured me that this won’t impact our working dynamic but lately there’s been a lot of pushback on any direction given to him or the team. I’m growing concerned he is holding something against me.

How should I approach this?

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) Thoughts?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

like

How bad is it for a junior to push back against a completely psychotic mid level? I don’t know how this mid level hasn’t been fired because they are even rude and bossy to partners and are a nightmare for juniors. I’ve decided enough is enough and am now pushing back against their arbitrary deadlines and other insane and unnecessary asks. I rarely work with this person and have good reviews. Am I asking for trouble?

What you should do when dealing with a very toxic worker that keep on sending passive aggressive messages to you as well as in group chat and email.
Things like when you answer his question he respond: I know that
Or when he keeps on saying my change requests were just minor in group meeting but actually not.
And keep on saying how hard he works when he clearly wasn’t and already underperformed compared to an intern level.

How to not let this toxic co-worker not poison me any further?

Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. There have been a lot of posts recently about appropriate gifts to give paralegals and assistants during the holidays, but I have a question about being in the receiving end of gifts from attorneys.
I just got the kindest handwritten thank you note and “just because” gift in the mail last week from one of my attorneys. How should I respond? I don’t work in the office with her, but I was so touched by how thoughtful this was and was wondering if I should respond beyond just thanking her?
