It’s one thing when customers are rude to you - we expect this. They are customers, after all.

The truly disappointing thing is when the RMs/AEs are verbally abusive. It’s really enraging when an RM, who probably makes way more in a week than I do in a month, condescends to me when I can’t solve their inquiry in under five minutes (when they’ve given me less than half of the info needed to troubleshoot their issue). Anything to close the sale, I guess.

Can anyone relate?

Yes so annoying. I think sometimes they like to try to push their power on you when they don't have any power.

It's really disheartening when someone with more authority and money than you speaks to you disrespectfully. I had the same experience in a customer service job where the customer yelled at me for something that was out of my control. It was really hard to stay professional in that situation. It's tough to go through something like that but it's important to remember that you're doing your best.

Great point

Sometimes people in middle management think of themselves way more highly than they should & are typically obsessed with numbers instead of people. I'm sorry you are having this experience. If it's with the same person repeatedly, I wonder if there's anyone you could report to?

like

Well, I quit that job lol about a week and a half ago, actually. A bit too late to report it but that’s alright.

Yeah, it truly is disappointing when people who are your coworkers feel so comfy being that disrespectful, and it’s hard to not see this as them seeing my position as less than theirs. Appreciate your comment :)

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

I am only 4 months into being a surgical coordinator. I love the position itself however I am struggling to adapt into my new work environment. My position puts me in a place where I need to interact with my new coworkers but they are not as welcoming as I expected. There is also another surgical coordinator however I have come to find from other staff that there is a long history of her running other staff away and not fully training other surgical coordinator staff properly. Any suggestions?

What you should do when dealing with a very toxic worker that keep on sending passive aggressive messages to you as well as in group chat and email.
Things like when you answer his question he respond: I know that
Or when he keeps on saying my change requests were just minor in group meeting but actually not.
And keep on saying how hard he works when he clearly wasn’t and already underperformed compared to an intern level.

How to not let this toxic co-worker not poison me any further?

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.

I’m pretty torn on whether I want to take an offer for an internal role or not…
The job itself sounds pretty interesting. Lots of opportunity for growth (eventually will build out a team).

My only concern is the hiring manager. I talked to someone in my network who has worked with him in the past and she told me that she would 100% work with him again bc she learned a lot, but that he has a very dominant personality and that some ppl can butt heads with him.
