I’ve recently been offered an HR position in San Francisco. It seems like a great positions and team, but the cost of living in the SF/Palo Alto region is ridiculous compared to where I am now. Any advice on housing for those live/move in or out the area?

Whew, good luck. My friend is a is a bigtime engineer and even she struggles with rent in SF. Wishing you luck in your new position!

Where are you moving from?

Where in SF? I’m in San Diego and my daughter just moved to SF. Prices have gone down in the Bay Area since the pandemic. She found a 1 bed apt in the city for $2k a month and it is rent controlled.

Can you negotiate for a remote type of working situation?

I would definitely try to look for some kind of alternative where you don't have to live in the area - way too expensive!

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k. And it looks we need to sell the house simultaneously as look for a new one or our contingency isn’t as attractive. I know it’s based on personal circumstances. But what would you do? - not move, sell and buy?

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit?
