Anyone else get frustrated when a manager ‘thinks’ they’re being helpful by actively telling you that a lot of the stuff you do to help manage your ADHD is unnecessary and there’s a better way to do it? Like they mean well, but even when I try to tell them I do it for a reason they think I’m just being difficult - e.g. work in a team room with headphones on, have a physical to do list, have a bunch of tabs/docs open at one time, bring a second monitor, take regular short breaks etc.

Does JP reimburse nowadays for home office equipment?

I’m thinking of going for a McKinsey Implementation Associate role - can anyone confirm if you’re required to live in the same state as your home office? Also, any pointers for the case studies for the interview? To my understanding, MI focuses more on operations/project management type work, so not sure if the case studies are based solely on that.

For those who do not have a home office, what does your WFH space look like? Just a laptop? One monitor, two monitors? Computer chair? Trying to figure out how much to invest and what I can get away with.

NJ based company with many remote employees. Considering opening up opportunities to CA residents but nervous as I know they have different labor laws. What are the most obvious ones that stick out that I should be considering(i.e reimbursement of home office expenses, wage transparency)? We offer private STD/LTD, equipment package, all exempt salary employees.

Anyone have any recommendations for “high” desk chairs that are also comfortable? I’m having nerve issues in my leg and I need my legs to mostly “hang” off and be more straight (instead of bent at the knee). Already have a standing desk which is great — just need something better so I can sit without being in pain

Just scheduled a meeting to go over an offer for a Senior Engineer role. When asked what I would need to make in order to leave my current job, I said at least $160k depending on benefits (I know I shouldn't have given a number).

I make a little over $145k now, plus stock options, a monthly home office stipend (fully remote), and your usual health benefits.

Assuming their benefits are comparable to my current position, have I given up all negotiation power by providing the initial number?

Hi! Relatively new here and feeling kind of lost. Question about freelance income — I make 80k at my W-2 dayjob and have a 401k, but I found out I’m going to have to pay 20,000 in taxes this year out of my freelance income. I saw some people talking about a SEP IRA — is this something I’d be allowed to do with an employer 401k? Do I email my accountant for this? I have very little deductions & home office is small, so if the SEP can let me keep some money, that’d be lovely. Thank you!

I have got an offer for a remote position. Company has made it look like they are approving remote as per my request. They have mentioned - "as per your request, we are approving remote working .."
Whole offer letter is driven like company is considering my request, so there will not be any reimbursement for home office, internet . I may need to travel to office if required, again no mention of expense reimbursement.

Is it fair on company's part to mention like above? I didn't ask for remote.

Got an offer to join a startup. The offer is 15k more than the job description’s top range. Health, dental, vision and disability, along with home office reimbursement and some stock options are included. Does anyone else with toddlers feel guilty that they go into the office to get unintterupted work time? I love my kids but ever since they reached 2-5 years old they will scream and cry until they are allowed into my home office when I am in there. My oldest is 6 and doesn't do this but the younger ones will cry until they can come see me. But when I leave (as long as I say goodbye) they are fine until I come home. Is this common? In an attempt to be healthier, I built a permanent standing desk. Now, once every couple hours my Apple Watch reminds me “it’s time to stand up” and I feel superior to all those chair sitters out there.

What firms (especially in California) are still embracing WFH whole heartedly and also hiring senior associates in the current market? My firm seems to suddenly be trying to copycat Kirkland by mandating 3 days in office. I love my firm despite the soul crushing aspects inherent to my practice area but I love my home office more than anything else in my professional life ever since I graduated law school. If all the firms are doing this BS now would be good to know so I can call my therapist now
