So working at this agency that is fully remote. And they only use project management systems to talk to each other. They try to have “culture” which involves having get togethers but honestly those feel forced and clicky ( wanna get together with 100 people you only see via zoom once a month for drinks? ) is anyone else experiencing this? I feel so disconnected and to a certain extent disengaged.
One of my previous agencies had a yearly Vegas meeting. That was so much fun. I miss those days.

What are some good online communities (on Discord, Slack, etc) to join as a designer? Want to connect with fellow designers, possibly work on hobby projects together, etc... There seem to be quite a few for newbies in the space but looking for ones that aren't predominantly students/designers in training

So, there’s this post on LinkedIn from a person that proclaims to have removed Slack and email from her phone and that no emergency is too great that a message can’t be answered tomorrow. Yeah, but you’re a recruiter. Are there ever recruiter emergencies?

If your client needs you to subscribe to Slack Pro or Microsoft onedrive for their process do you charge them for that cost if you didn’t already have it?

Tips on work life balance is this instance? My acct is only about 7 months old & considered a huge win/growth driver for my agency. The high stress, adhoc requests never stop. My GAD is so hands off — Never picks up slack, just delegates, never says no. Then comes in at the last hour to nitpick yet not help. My clients & team (minus my GAD) are good people but it’s hard to live with such a high volume stress. Any strategies for surviving this acct? Not native to the fact this is agency life :/

McK Super Day coming up and it’s over Zoom. I typically use noise canceling headphones for work but I look funny with them on camera. My laptop’s audio isn’t great so I want to use headphones (so that the interviewers can hear me well and reduce background noise), but at the same time I don’t want to look like a gamer on interview day 😑. Do I need to invest in some AirPods? I’ve used bootleg ones but they always fall out of my ears (there’s nothing I can do about my funky ears unfortunately)

My fiancé (35F) and I (47M) are lovers of all things McKinsey. The only people we associate with are at McK and we have attended every McK Zoom event. We’re wanting to get married in a McKinsey office somewhere near us, perhaps Chicago.

Does anyone know how much it’d cost to rent out an entire McK office for an entire weekend? We’d have the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and then wedding ceremony and wedding reception. Thinking also of having a full 3 course meal served by the Partners themselves.

I’ve recently interviewed via Zoom with two different individuals at a company. The feedback I received from the first was “great conversation, clearly qualified, but didn’t wow me”. The second “great conversation, valuable skill set and experience, but lacked energy”. Any tips on how to “wow” or come across with more “energy” via Zoom?

Does your boss monitor your “last online” time via Teams/ Skype etc to check how late you have worked until on a weekday or whether you have worked during weekends?

Who here has a job they actually enjoy and works with a team that is enjoyable to be around even on teams or zoom? What is it that you do and how did you get there?

Do lawyers investigate? Why am I seeing job postings with Zoom, Meta, IBM, and other large companies asking for "investigations attorney" or "counsel, investigations"? I thought attorneys practice law and criminal investigators do the latter? Can't post in the law forum, I don't have access. Is a law degree desirable for conducting investigations?

B. Wait a little while so that it doesn’t seem like I have nothing better to so.

My manager and I have a 1:1 every week. The conversation always revolves around them asking me 1) what I’m working on, 2) its respective status and 3) how I could work faster. I want to slack off as much as I can so I’m having trouble thinking of how I can slow down progress without raising red flags. Advice?
