I was given a direct contact to someone who’s a certified social worker and works in HR. She helped me find a therapist that I’m going to visit this coming week, and recommended a psychiatrist. Depending on the severity of what you’re going through, I think it’s best to start with a therapist. I actually first brought up my depression to my primary care doctor and she prescribed me some anti-depressants that have really changed me for the better. But now I’m seeking some additional help because while my mental health is better overall, the work is just dragging me back down
Thank you.
I have a counselor and a psychiatrist. My psychiatrist is just for meds and my counselor is for getting me to a point where hopefully I can get off meds (not that there is anything wrong with being on medication). Depending on severity - your primary care can prescribe you medicine, but psychiatrist is much more specialized.
You’re welcome! I know it’s a lot, but getting help has been 100% worth it for me! You can do it!
I have started with a therapist/counselor, while some of my issues can get severe, for me personally, I wanted to start with someone just to lay it all out there and to find the cause/effect and see if I can find ways to cope without meds first.
