People who sit too close to the camera on zoom calls make me uncomfortable. It’s like close talkers but on video.

An agency called me, zoom interviewed me, sent me a part-time contract to sign, set up a slack channel, then sat on the job for a 2 weeks now, saying ‘sorry for the delay’. I won’t nag them, just venting to you guys.

What should I say/do? On Friday afternoon my boss asked me to join a meeting (on zoom). I didn’t understand a thing, but he would fill me the details later. After the meeting we continue to do other works (seperadly, with other people) and I completely forgot to talk with him about that case. Sunday night I received a message “FYI, you vanished, so I did it myself” with the documents attached. I honestly forgot about it. Yes, he could have talked to me, but was supposed to talk to him either. 😞

One thing I truly will never understand is how Zoom became so successful despite the success of so many other meeting platforms.

Had a zoom callback interview , i think things went well and they said I would hear from them soon after I sent thanks yous. This was last week, how long should I wait on following up?

I was laid off in April when there was just email and phones. Cut to five months later and I’m working again. Yay.

How do you all keep up your skills if your job is boring and you are not learning much? I have an MBA & PMP, so mostly fall into program/project management consulting roles in healthcare (my industry).

But most of the work is basically 'babysitting' others while managing Microsoft Teams, Project, Excel, and PPT. I have decent soft skills but I feel like anyone can do my job.

Note: MBA is non-top 30. I also have a CPA (never licensed). I feel like someone like me should be doing much more!

My client was pretty racist this morning on a call and I’m just not sure how to deal. Received an offer from Booz Allen as a data engineer. I have 2 years of experience with Deloitte and just got promoted to Consultant but with a very little raise bc of COVID (the commercial practice struggled and GPS had to pick up the slack). The offer is about a 30% pay bump. I'm hesitant to leave bc i have an AMAZING network at Deloitte and a couple of good project opportunities on the horizon. Anyone have advice or insight?

How important is the background for a zoom interview? I keep reading articles saying I should have a blank wall behind me + good lighting..but I live in a studio & don’t have the ability to do both. The best lighting in my apartment would have my kitchen behind me. My only semi blank wall has pretty awful lighting. Is using a fake background (to cover my clean kitchen) discouraged?

After 7 hours of back to back zoom video meetings and then an additional 5-6 hours of work every day how do I get any me time?

Alright - workshopping this - let’s see what comes back : working for agency out of NYC, have shoot in LA, pretty important, really dependent on emotion from some “real people” with some product mixed in. ECD and I, naturally want to be there. Agency & holding company has a strong anti travel policy for Covid. Client less so - What’s the solve? Advice? Book through production house? Any other ideas? I have a McKinsey interview in 1 week and a BCG one after Got some videos for McKinsey, looks like it is interviewer led, has anyone done zoom interviews with them recently. I am working full-time and trying to figure out how to best prepare. I really want to work at McKinsey, and of that doesn’t work I will be lucky to do BCG. But I am focusing on McKinsey since that is first. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using Rocket blocks, my math is not great I rely on excel too much.
