Hi everyone - I am asking my company for a significant raise and was wondering if anyone could share any insight to what they are currently getting paid/what annual salary would accompany my experience. I have pretty solid statistics to go off of, but looking for someone who’s in the same boat as me. I am a senior financial planner (CFP) working on 2 teams that manages 600M across 350 households with 10 years experience.

I transitioned to an RIA back in 2020. My FINRA licenses (7, 63) are due to expire in July of this year and am wondering if I should find an RIA or another firm that holds them so they do not expire. I also completed my CFP certification last last March. Any advice would be appreciated.

Wondering what a typical CFP salary is in Florida. Firm is looking for 5years plus experience, income planning heavy and high net worth clients. More on the planning side and service. I have 9 years in the industry and CFP for 4.

Can anyone here give me insight on what I should expect to get paid as an Associate Financial Advisor? I have an MBA in finance and I just got my CFP (3 years industry experience). I just want to meet with clients as part of a team and not manage my own book. I'm making $85k now, not sure if that's reasonable.

I’ve been looking into starting out but don’t understand the first couple of steps. I totally get the business end of it like real estate, office work, etc, but compliance, choosing a broker that accepts small AUM/beginners? Do I really need a CFP? How important are insurance licenses to business models? What if I want other FINRA licenses? Am I my own sponsor? I could go into the details of why but character limits. Any insight or even a place to start looking at information would be helpful.

CPA vs CFA vs CFP. Which one do you think is easiest and hardest to get?

Recently acquired my CFP. I’m just starting in the industry and relatively fresh out of college. More or less working as an associate for senior advisors with a focus on portfolio management & trading for them. I think I’d like to go the designation route to cover CE for the CFP and the APMA caught my attention as I see other younger advisors getting it. Is it worth the money/time? I’d like to dive deeper in portfolio management education. I understand CFA and/or CIMA would be the most valuable.

Does anybody have experience re-selling tickets to a big national-level sporting event? I’m thinking of buying tickets to the CFP in January but if my team doesn’t make it, I’ll need to resell them. Think I’ll be able to recoup cost? They’re about $1300-$1500 now… will that go up or down once teams are known? Thanks for advice!

Is the CFP license worthy? How is the exam and how to meet the experience requirements if you are working in public acct?

How do you convince a parent in their 60s without a large portfolio (less than 300k) that they don’t need a CFP? Late to the investment game, don’t want to do daily/weekly monitoring, and are worried about expenses, thus they want to go the CFP route but I’m trying to tell them CFPs and Wealthfront/Schwab/Fidelity aren’t going to do anything drastically different. It’s probably an age/trust thing or maybe I’m wrong and a CFP is the route to go at their age/portfolio size. Thoughts?

My company offered to pay my way through the CFP program, on the contingency that I will pass and also stay with them for 10 years after the fact. Is this normal? It seems unfair to make me pay them back down the road if I decide to take a better opportunity. It’s a small business that is worried I will leave.

Working on my CFP. Enjoying it so far, except for the financial calculator part. This seems outdated, when Excel and other online tools exist. Seriously, has anyone been with a client in the past decade where they whipped out an HP 12C and “wowed” their client?

Any idea what the average compensation is for a Non-sales associate with 15 years experience and a CFP (large city)...

Just started a new job and after doing some research found out they do not offer a Roth 401k. My choices are limited to a traditional 401k or After-Tax Contributions. After speaking with a friend who’s a CFP, he suggested I contribute only to the After-Tax, but I wanted to validate that advice here. If it helps I’m 24 and my current base is around 110k. Thoughts on getting CFP when done with CPA (1 test left) and pivoting from audit to personal financial planning? Estates, taxes, savings, etc. Or should I just stick the OG plan and go into industry FP&A when I make senior/CPA?

My uncle, and aunt, had about $750k in investments scattered across 14 different retirement accounts, brokerage accounts, annuities, on different platforms. They are 65. Three months ago they asked me if I could help them consolidate everything. I agreed. We started the process and this week the last of the funds came into their new Vanguard accounts!

Question: how do I scale this work organically, as a side hustle? I have an MBA in finance, but no CFP or other financial planning designation.

Can I start an LLC and manage people’s money through a fund account without being a licensed CFP or having passed the series 7, etc?

So I am a W-2 salaried CFP at a small IRA and I have a neighbor who runs his own practice and asked if I knew anyone who would be looking for part time paraplanning work. After thinking about it I got to wondering if its compliant and okay for an advisor to do something like that on the side for extra income or would that be considered a conflict on interest as an OBA?
