Does anyone have experience doing digital advertising in banking/investing? I have an offer for an in-house position at Goldman Sachs, though I’m unsure how the work/life balance will be, as I know most hours in finance are loooooong.

I have 5 YOE, currently a Supervisor, the offer is a 14% raise (plus eligible for bonus), and would bring me to six figures for the first time. In my early 20’s rn.

Any insight is appreciated!

I'm thinking about moving from New York to London. I have 7 years of experience at ad agencies. I'm looking at jobs like "marketing manager" at a brand or tech company or hybrid operations/growth roles. I'm not sure I could jump to a biz dev director role in an entirely new market, which is why I'm looking at generalist roles where my experience would count. From an initial search, it seems like London salaries are significantly lower than New York. Any recommendations on how to navigate this?

What’s the most dramatic jump in salary you’ve managed? At what position did you go from feeling underpaid to over/appropriately paid?

Had final interview with company, about a week later recruiter says they want to interview more people before making a decision but that they're also hiring more headcount now. What's your overanalysis of my chances?

Received a job offer that was same title and pay. After hearing more about the position, I felt that it was more senior. Asked if they were open to bringing me on as a senior, and they happily agreed….. except when I got the new offer, it was still the original salary lol.

I don’t want to come off as greedy, but this feels odd.

I really love the place and the people I’ve met, but this gives me doubts

Is it more likely when I put my 2 weeks in that:

A.) My agency will work me to the bone for the next 10 days
B.) I will be pulled off projects and hopefully training and replacing my current role

Any advice for someone (a friend) looking to transition from film production to advertising (in toronto, if that matters)? Having a ton of trouble getting even an interview for a junior role - even the most junior account roles are asking for 1-3 years of agency experience. TONS of transferable skills and super eager/great attitude, just hitting a wall. I suspect all it’ll take is a break by one of the many people he’s met for coffee, but any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Having a hard time jumping from mid to senior AD. Either I don’t have enough experience or I’m too experienced for a role. Any suggestions? Anyone hiring seniors in nyc?

Thoughts on a US-based Brand Partnerships Manager role at TikTok? Expecting an offer to come through and curious to know others' experience. Have read lots of reviews and inputs from the past year, but seems to differ based on location and role.

I'm getting ready to accept an offer at a new agency, but what I really want is to go in-house. I had 6 very positive interviews at a co. but lost out by a hair. They said they're growing & would keep me in mind for future relevant openings.

Is it worth pinging that co's recruiter to let her know I'm considering a role at a new agency & ask if they expect any openings soon?

Feels unlikely, but I'd hate to start a new job and then get a call from the company I actually want to work for.

Just took a new job at a great agency. Moved my entire life to a new country. Was sold on the opportunity to do good work, but I've been here a month and it feels like they don't have a role for me. I hope everything will work out but working remote makes it so easy to get lost in the shuffle. Can anyone relate?

Just checked and I’m still not excited or looking forward to what anyone does in their new role at “X” leading “Y”. Always interested in good documentary recommendations, though.

3 times I have gone through the interview process with big agencies and have gotten positive feedback all the way through to final interviews. Discussed salary and start date etc. only to be told right before offer time that internal team shifts or client scopes shifts mean the position is now on hold. But the team “loved” meeting me and as soon as a suitable position opens they’d love to interview again. Is this something you guys have experienced or am I doing something wrong on my end?

Trying to break into tech… do you think its worth joining a company like Amazon doing a position I know I’m capable in but not incredibly tech related just to have Amazon on my resume for future jobs? How long after getting a promotion should you stay at a company before it’s not looked down upon to leave? I am interviewing right now but am told I should be getting a promotion next month in my current role. Is it bad to take a promotion then put your two weeks in the same month?

What would you do? You’re working remote for an agency in another state, you like the people and the CCO. work is good honest grind. Nothing glamorous, not much potential for portfolio pieces. You like working from home. An agency in your city is hiring. They get decent visible projects for a brand(s) you and the world admire. More chance for sexy portfolio goods (more career options after too) but you’d need to go into an office again. Stay or jump?

So I’m nearly 4 years into my career and began making $100k this year as a social media buyer. While this is a lot of money as a 27 year old, my current job function is not challenging at all. My workload is also extremely light. While this may be an enviable situation for some, I’m worried my career is going nowhere. The account I’m on is the same one I’ve been on for more than 2 years and I’ve already asked off without luck. Has anyone else experienced a lack of challenge in their job role?

Been at current agency for a year, loved it and love my team. Pros: Benefits are great, as is the mentorship and work is generally quite stable. Cons: Lower paid

The new agency is smaller and benefits aren’t as good but I’ll get a +45% pay increase and title bump. Work is different to what I’m used to which is both exciting and daunting (imposter syndrome will no doubt kick in!).

Ideal situation would have been to stay in current role another year or two... help!

Morning Fish. Looking for some hive-mind advice. I applied for a great FAANG role a couple of weeks ago, which was fully remote. I was contacted for an interview, and since applying, the listing has changed to their NY or CA office, which I can't do (relocation not an option). Should I do the interview anyway, or withdraw but ask to be considered should further similar remote roles come up?
