What boundaries do you have in place as a FL? I just started and I feel like a hot mess with too much to do (business things, new calls, client work, slack, multiple emails, timesheets 💀). I’m so tired.

Anyone have connections at Slack?

For those that have worked at both Mckinsey and BCG, which platform is the easiest to work with? By platform i mean employee interface : intranet, timesheets, trainings, internal messaging/slack, meetings etc

I’m a single parent and mid-level associate, and have been struggling with the increased expectations from pandemic-level work. I do not have the luxury of a full-time nanny, maids or stay-at-home spouses like most of the partners I work with and the expectation that I be available 24/7 (and on zoom) is impossible to keep up with lately. Work was manageable pre-pandemic (and I really enjoyed it) but these new expectations seem unsustainable. Anyone else in the same boat? How are you managing?

Ugh... when you very unexpectedly fall hard for someone after meeting them in person and seriously can't get them out of your head..... apparently zoom/photos are very very different...

How bad is it to be on a zoom call with ten other people including the client and everyone has their camera on but you? 😬

What are travel expectations at your project/firm like now that we’ve basically gotten back to normal with covid? Left consulting mid 2021 due to partners demanding travel to client sites while 75% of the clients were wfh. Considering going back to consulting but seems pointless if it means leaving my family 4 days a week to take zoom calls from a clients conference room.

I’m a people person and would really enjoy an environment with more collaboration (in-person ideally, but over Zoom is fine too). As I evaluate jobs while passively looking how can I determine if the culture is truly collaborative?

I’m a senior looking to enter the digital marketing field. Based on suggestions from career advisors and seniors before me, I’ve started cold messaging people on LinkedIn. I usually find a commonality (same uni, same ethnicity...) and ask for a 30 min zoom chat for a specific purpose (informational interview, asking for referral, curious about something). I wonder what do people on the receiving end of these messages feel? Are you normally interested? What do you expect?

Anyone loving or hating MS Sharepoint for creative teams? My Dept currently relies heavily on Airtable, Slack, and email, but that seems to leave some big gaps. I've tried Notion, Clickup, and Basecamp, and they all seem to have their flaws.

Do you have your Teams/Slack notifications mute at a certain hour? If so, when?

Question for the people who laugh off “being stuck on mute” on every daily call (aka not paying any attention to the conversation).

How much longer until you understand how to function during a zoom meeting?

I am being flown out for dinner and drinks with a team I’ve been interviewing with for over a month now (multiple zoom and phone calls). I don’t yet have an offer, and I assume this meeting will be to discuss the finer points of employment. We are going to a more upscale (I wouldn’t consider it ‘fine’) dining establishment. How formal should I get with my outfit?

Slack or expedia or Adobe?

I want to hear stories of interviewees walking out of interviews. I had an interview with a big pharma company today and the hiring manager was clearly distracted and not focused. I found it so disrespectful. This is for an associate director position too. I hate myself for not just leaving the interview Zoom. Please share your stories so I can live vicariously through your bravery.

I had a bcg recruiter reach out and decided to go through the recruiting process at PL level. Have first of 2 rounds coming up in a few weeks. Was told it’s via zoom, is it going to be traditional format just remote or some computer generated thing I keep reading about?

I have been with my current company for over 6 years, as a IBMI Operator i am currently dedicated to one customer and i am making 18.50. Now they have let go of another as400 admin on the customer side, so i am currently picking their slack as well. Any clue on what i should be making?

If I join an interview via zoom using my work zoom account will they be able to tell? Or will they just see my name? I’d like to use my work laptop because my personal one is unreliable and crashes easily but I don’t want to be unprofessional. Thoughts?

Is it possible in zoom to turn off everyone's incoming video (without affecting anyone else's experience or ability to see each other) so I can hear the one person speaking when I'm in low-bandwidth situations?

All I need is to hear Carol in accounting giving her daily standup; I don't need my crappy hotel Wi-Fi processing 50 video feeds of random employees staring at their monitors gunking up my bandwidth.

I started my recent job less than a year and felt that I am underperforming. It sucks because my work quality is decent (or at least I have my best tries) but I suck at communication stuff, which is key in PM career.
It is hard to cut into a zoom conversation even when I know I have to pull the conversation back or push back politely in English on the spot (second language). Also people just ghost im/emails, resulting in unwanted delays and I don’t know how to defend myself.

Love being forced into the office to have extremely loud and chatty colleagues (even with my door closed) and no partners around. So glad I woke up early for the commute to sit in my office with the door closed and still have to call/Zoom everyone I’m working with. Makes sense! 🫠

…I accepted a offer for a position with a title I didn’t like. I started doing on boarding and then sent an email to the HR email I had been talking to that i wanted to drop out b4 before the company sent me checks and computer equipment. When I emailed HR I got a response saying the email address no longer existed…!?!
I went and told the people on Skype IM that I had been talking to that I wanted to revoke my application since it was a job title I didn’t want. They said “oh we can change it”

I met someone through a slack group on a job posting. We chatted, shared info and this person offered to be a referral on the posting on his team. I’ve gone through 4 loops of interviews with the team panel interview including this person. I felt each loop has gone great. It’s been over a week since my final interview an I haven’t gotten a response from the recruiter, who’s generally been pretty responsive. What are is everyone’s thought on reaching out to the job referrer for an update?

PSA - if you have an interview on zoom, please don’t look through your notes in the middle of the interview. I just interviewed someone who would pause for long periods of time to obviously look through his notes before answering questions. He was doing this on his computer and I could actually hear his mouse scrolling loudly as he flipped through notes. Needless to say, it was hard to build rapport and it made me question his ability to think on his feet.
