I use their first name and I think it makes it more personal in my opinion. Don't overthink it you are fine.
I think using it creates sympathy and is polite. This is why supervisors demand that employees use the customer's name X times. Sadly that number is usually way too high, which makes conversations feel artificial. Using it once or twice is fine.
Remembering and repeating names is an important tool I use in my CS work, even with chat. I wouldn't overuse it, but especially when disconnecting, it adds a touch of humanity.
I'd say you're overthinking. No, it's not weird. Just do it if it feels right, and if not then don't.
