Is it just me or does this sounds like totally normal agency stuff? Who gives a freelancer an exit interview?
When you are interviewing somewhere new, what are things you look for/signs that it is a shitty work environment? So many places paint themselves so well until you’re hired & their true colors show🙄
So, I used to write for Sports Illustrated and I’m trying to get into copywriting. I’ve also done copywriting for small businesses over the past two years. I don’t exactly have your typical portfolio and, at 30-years-old, I can’t really stop working and go to portfolio school. I’m applying for jobs, but nothing doing yet. Am I out of luck or do you think someone with that kind of background can get hired by an agency?
For the first time in 2 years I’m feeling hopeful again. Dare I say happy. I was laid off, big agency network, with a truck load of international awards, over 40, interviewed non stop, got ghosted ...
Been applying to a bunch of in-house places. How do you answer the "Why in-house?" question in interviews.
Here is the good news tread. Comment with something positive that happened to you in the last couple of weeks. New job? New client? Got a raise? Interview went well?Let’s celebrate!

Had an amazing job interview last year. Just waiting on the recruiter to follow up. Feeling good about it.
When interviewing people, especially creatives and planners, we should ask them to tell us a story.
I completed 9 interviews at a company. Did an assignment netting in a 15 page presentation. Received very positive feedback from those along the way and the external recruiter. Planning to receive an offer today. Just received candid feedback that it "heartbreakingly going to be no" and that it is only based off of something a reference said about me 11 days ago (had interviews since then). What would you make of this? Would you reach out to your references to temperature check what happened?
A coworker that I got along with very well switched jobs 2 years ago. She went to a new agency that sounds like it has a better culture and work life balance. I am interested in applying at...
If you quit your job after 3 months because its not what you signed up for. Do you put it on your resume when applying for new jobs?
I'm considering to completely stop applying for jobs till the covid situation starts to turn around. So few junior jobs with so many applicants (many more than pre-covid). Any advice?
I have my first interview tomorrow for a new job - I’m currently still at the agency I got my first job at (it’s been 2 years & I’ve had 1 promotion, for reference). My question is - can they ask me how much I’m currently making? If so, can I lie? Can they ask for proof? I’m grossly underpaid right now (way below average and even below minimum for my role) so I’ll be asking for a hefty increase, but don’t want them to know just HOW hefty, because I feel like it’ll put me at a disadvantage.
Damn. Was lucky enough to land an interview. The interview went numerous rounds, it was super positive, so then I decided I would be 100% honest about something I wasn’t good at, in hopes of being clear that I was ready to grow. Then I got ghosted, and I think it’s because of the said honesty. Feeling low and stupid for ever admitting a “fault” in an interview instead of just telling them that I’m perfect.
Had a REALLY great interview the other day and walked out of it thinking positively. The person (would be boss) interviewing me said nothing but great things about my work, strategy and professional ability/managerial style. Found out I didn’t land the job, “I wasn’t the right fit”. I get that happens but I find it irritating that an interviewer can act as if it’s all going swimmingly but in reality in their minds it’s not. Why fake it during interview and pass out compliments you don’t mean?
What are your thoughts on people who have jobs applying for open roles knowing that people in the industry are unemployed ?

For people that were let go from one job due to a bad culture fit or management problems, how do you answer that in interviews without seeming like you’re blaming anyone?
If you go rounds and rounds of interviews and lose out on a job to one other candidate, hearing it was “really close” etc do you have a follow up conversation with HR who passed the bad news to you for possible further insight into the decision, or do you just chalk it up as a loss and move on?

I’m underpaid but I love my agency, team, and client. How do you balance being underpaid but enjoying your work? I’ve started to interview for new jobs just to confirm that I’m underpaid and I learned I could make 15K more by leaving. What do I do?

Tips on maintaining a positive attitude at a job you can’t stand? I hate my current place, but I don’t want to leave yet because of the state of everything. I feel bad even applying when I know other people are actually unemployed and need those jobs.
Hello there, i’m wondering if anyone on this group has experience opening your own agency? I was laid off in April and had been freelancing ever since. Hi, everyone. I’m copywriter looking to break into UX writing. I don’t have a lot of UX work in my portfolio. I’ve mostly worked on digital campaigns on social media and some website writing for brands. I’m wondering what I need in my portfolio to help me get a job as a UX writer. I’m looking to start getting into eating better and exercising. I’m in my mid-to-late thirties and know I need to change for my health. I live in NYC and don’t have room for any major workout equipment in my small studio. What are some initial resources you’d recommend for those that know nothing about how to start with workouts and dietary changes?
