How are commissions handled for your sales employee while they go out on Parental Leave?? I work for a tech startup company and we have our first seller going out on leave and I need to create our policy. Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated!

For those of you at early stage startups - do you have an official parental leave policy? What is it? How do you make it work? I’m working on formalizing a policy at my company (~30 people, series A funded) and am wondering how other startups approach this.

Do your firms have maternal/paternal/parental leave and if so, how long is it?

Curious about Polsinelli’s parental leave policy. Is it 14 weeks paid leave? Is there a ramp-up/ramp-down period? Interviewing for a possible shareholder position (in case that makes a difference).

How long before a parental leave should you notify everyone? We don’t even know when or if it will happen at all.

Recently returned from 12 week parental leave. My group respected the time and I received one or two non-urgent emails. It helped immensely with bringing home baby number two and integrating her to our family (also have a toddler), and it took an insane amount of stress off my partner who needed a lot of recovery time, and who also works but has a less flexible job.

Long story short, I’m die hard loyal to my colleagues and my firm after this and hope it becomes standard in our profession.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

Not in consulting, on the industry side now. Would it be messed up if I left my company for a new role while manager is on parental leave? It was way easier leaving consulting but I feel more guilty about this

PwC fish - when do you become eligible for parental leave?

I have no idea where to post this, but is a anyone else super weirded out by LinkedIn lately? All these pictures of people using their kids as props for parental leave, or how their kid has a disorder and how proud they are? I just came across a post that was a woman lying next to her mom who had *literally* just died. I feel a little cold hearted saying it, but it is so over the top on what is supposed to be a professional network. Am I just totally out of touch?

Moving to BCG soon, and looking at their non compensation benefits - does BCG have a policy for leave of absence / family leave ? (Separate from parental leave). Scenario: baby coming in January and have an offer to lateral. Current firm gives 12 weeks of parental leave. New firm wants decision by next week. Would like to give a few weeks notice to current firm about leaving but need the entire parental leave. Parental leave can be taken at either firm but importantly, need the full time off and not work at all. What to do and when to do it (ie provide notices etc.). Thanks!

This might be the MOST important and ONLY post of any true value I post this year, so please, let me know why you might agree or disagree: With all the awakening regarding employment and compensation in our business (remote, unlimited personal time off, parental leave, equal pay, etc, etc..) wouldn’t the most amazing thing we could do be to create PENSIONS? Our parents’ generation had them. Knowing there’s going to be money there when we can’t sling ads anymore could relieve so much stress now.
