For the last four weeks or so of WFH I’ve been making it to my desk around 7:30/8am and working basically without a break—lunch at desk- but cannot maintain momentum past like 6:30/7:30pm. Most of the day is billable work, but I cannot bring myself to finish outstanding assignments after 8pm, but then feel so guilty when I’m not working past that time. Am I burnout or fucked up? (Also I hate this gig & am not in it for the long haul, just hate not turning things quickly)

Corporate first year in biglaw here. Since wfh began, I’ve been extremely unmotivated to do anything. I’m not sure if I’m depressed or just unhappy with my job. I really enjoy some of the work, but biglaw expectations can still seem so trivial. Especially now. Do any other first years relate? Do any experienced attorneys feel a wfh burnout? Work is slow, but I procrastinate so much. I can’t make myself care, though. Generally feel very off. I worry people are noticing and I’ll be fired.

Anyone else historically a star performer and being told performance is subpar since COVID? Not sure if it’s the additional stress/ distractions at home with a 10 mo old, wfh burnout/lack of motivation or what, but most importantly, wondering how to get past it and bounce back?

WFH burnout is real and starting to blend all the days together. How are all y'all pushing through to remain productive and positive on a personal level?

As I’m sure many have experienced, I’m getting dangerously close to what I would consider burnout. I’m experiencing fairly substantial anxiety, which leads to procrastination, which leads to me ultimately pulling all-nighters. It’s a vicious cycle. I’m so thankful for COVID-19 WFH, but it also means I can’t ever unplug and a vacation is obviously a nonstarter this year. How do I pull myself out of this mess?

Any advice for achieving work/life balance in advertising? Or has anyone left the industry to pursue better work/life balance, and successfully found it? If so, what was your path? I’ve been at couple of agencies during my career, but inevitably end up grinding myself into the ground no matter where I end up. The WFH during quarantine has pushed things to a new level where it feels like I need to change something to sustain my mental health & relationships.

Will firms do anything to address the increased burnout burden of less traveling and more wfh that will be the new normal?

Anyone else feel like WFH has totally obliterated any work/life balance you had pre COVID-19?

Unsure if this is an unpopular opinion - but working from home makes being a consultant feel so much more sustainable. I like my work/life balance, and truly enjoy my project. I could get used to WFH

What support does your company offer to enable you to WFH effectively? (Professional effectiveness as well as Personal satisfaction, e.g. work/life balance)

As we continue to wfh, how do you set boundaries and find that work life balance? Seems like wfh has contributed to guilt of not working longer hours and catching up on weekends.

Does anyone else NOT want to work from home forever? I’ve seen so many posts and articles glorifying a work from home future... I’m all for flexibility and welcome better work life balance, but don’t think that companies shuttering office space indefinitely is the best way forward for anyone

I tell myself: this epidemic is a marathon and not a sprint. Many people, including myself, are questioning their motivation during quarantine. It’s so easy when we’re locked inside our homes with limited contact with the outside world. Eventually we will return to work and our normal routines. Motivation will also increase as we get used to WFH’ing. Avoid stagnation and burnout, position yourself the best way you can for normalcy.

WFH is the key to work life balance. My house has never been this clean

COVID WFH has given me the work/life balance I always dreamed of. Productivity has increased and I get to have 3 meals a day with my spouse/kids.

I'm feeling overwhelmed! I need a mental health day to just step away from my laptop and tv screen, but it seems like work-life balance is way off balance and work heavy since WFH...

Favorite Nike Training Club (“NTC”) workouts? These could be pretty helpful during work from home. (Personal: Back & Biceps burnout was a pretty good one and only took 24 minutes)

Love this work -life balance. Work from home all week. Barely had work to do. Literally no work today. This is pretty much PTO without actually using it.

I left a very high paying position for better work-life balance and I'm regretting it. I was at 165k and dropped to 105k but with unlimited PTO and total WFH. In some ways it's better, but I have to admit I made the decision in haste. What would you do? Should I jump ship again?
